Description
1973 – A Year to Remember for Porsche
1973 was a dream year for the Porsche 911 Carrera RSR. The legendary Group 4 car won no fewer than three international races to go along with seven domestic wins, and a glorious twelve months was capped with victory in the famed Targa Florio race held in Sicily. This is an R C model assembly kit recreating the car, and the polycarbonate body accurately replicates its unmistakable form with wide front and rear fenders. The famous marking scheme can be recreated using paints and the included decals to depict the Martini stripes, numbers, sponsor logos and more. Front and rear 2-piece assembly wheels are mounted with racing slick tires for assured handling.
Adaptable TT-02 Chassis offers balanced shaft driven 4WD
The shaft driven 4WD TT-02 chassis employs a longitudinal layout with the battery on the left and the motor on the right, to offer excellent stability. In addition, it features identical left and right suspension arms and uprights for ease of assembly, plus easy-to-maintain gearboxes. It is a highly adaptable chassis, as it offers 2 different wheelbases, 2 ground clearance settings and 2 tread set-ups in addition to a range of 10 possible gear ratios. It is not short on looks either, with brake disc-shaped wheel hubs and stylish front bumper supports.
The Porsche 911 Carrera RSR joins the Tamiya TT-02 chassis touring car entry level line-up. It is a legendary Group 4 car which had a body weighing just 900kg with a 300hp-plus horizontally opposed 6-cylinder engine, and still holds a place in automotive enthusiast s hearts today thanks to its exploits with racing teams the world over. In 1973, the year of its release, it won the European GT Championship, plus the renowned 24 Hours of Daytona and 12 Hours of Sebring races. The works prototype in predominantly silver livery with the Martini stripe also took the checkered flag in the famed Targa Florio race.
Tamiya has faithfully reproduced this sleek racing machine in 1 10 scale on the TT-02 entry level touring car chassis. The TT-02 chassis platform is the successor to the TT-01 as it incorporates many new features to make it even easier for the new R C kit builder to assemble and learn from. The TT-02 chassis performs well as cornering and overall speed has been enhanced to take advantage of new electronics available on the market. In addition to the TT-02 being an ideal platform to start from, R C hobbyists can expand its potential by adding many of the Ho-Up-Options available to increase the cars speed and performance.
